Thinking about grabbing a mini/pico projector for personal use, but I'm kind of lost on what matters most when shopping. Specs all look the same to me... brightness, resolution, battery life, portability, etc. and I can't tell what actually makes the difference in real-world use. I don't need it for a full home theater setup, more like casual movie nights or tossing a game on the wall. Any suggestions on what to prioritize in 2025, or specific models that are worth the money?

For brightness, look for at least 200-300 ANSI lumens so it's usable in a dim room.
For resolution, 1080p is the standard for a sharp image.
Don't worry about 4K claims because they often just downscale the picture anyway.
I've also found the smart features to be a huge convenience.
Built-in streaming like Android TV and auto-focus make setup a breeze, so you don't need a streaming stick.
Try checking models like the Nebula Capsule 3, Mars 3 Air, or Samsung Freestyle! They're all solid options for casual use!

Thanks for the tips, these are helpful for the ones looking for something small. Do you find 200–300 ANSI lumens bright enough if there’s a little ambient light like from a lamp? Also, how’s the sound on those models, do you usually pair them with a speaker or are the built-in ones decent for casual use?
