projector optoma ML1080 won't find the HDMI Source?

I'm stuck with two identical Optoma ML1080 projectors, and one is being stubborn about finding the HDMI source. The weird part is that the settings are exactly the same on both.
I even tried a factory reset on the bad one, but no luck!
The working one has 3000 display hours, and the finicky one only has 300 hours, so I really want to save it!
Any troubleshooting tips? Is there a known software bug or HDMI port issue with these models?

Since the settings match and a factory reset didn’t help, I’d test with a different cable and a different device. The ML1080 is known to be sensitive to EDID handshakes, so sometimes a simple cable swap fixes the whole mystery.

Weirdly common with compact projectors: the HDMI port can loosen slightly even with light use. If the cable wiggles or doesn’t “click” firmly, that’s a clue. No major software bugs reported for the ML1080’s HDMI, though.
