Is your setup fully HDCP compliant?

Ran into a bit of a headache this weekend trying to get a new projector to play nice with a streaming stick but it kept getting black screens until I realized the projector wasn't HDCP compliant, I swapped in a different one and boom....like clockwork, everything worked. We'd be surprised how many projectors still don't handle HDCP properly, especially when you're trying to stream from Netflix, Prime, etc, so yeah one more thing to check before you blame the cables

Yeah, so many projectors still lack HDCP support, causing black screens with streaming sticks. Always check HDCP compliance before blaming cables, it saved me a lot of headaches

Swapping in an HDCP compliant unit should sort it for you it's one of those little specs people overlook until it causes headaches, guess its something worth checking real well before assuming it's a bad cable or busted stick.

Yep, HDCP can be a total pain with projectors.. Especially older or the more budget ones. If it aint compliant, streaming devices like Fire Stick or Roku will just give you black screens. Swapping to a compliant projector is really the only fix.

I can relate, dealing with HDCP issues can be really frustrating. Often, the only solution is to upgrade the projector.

For me I ran into that same issue as posted by OP with an older Optoma and a Roku stick. I swapped to one with proper HDCP and it was smooth sailing after that.

I think as a general rule, it's better to pick an HDCP-compliant model. Generally the stuff that follows certain standards are pretty great so I guess that's what you should come after.
