HDMI cable weak link in 4k projector upgrade?

Finally thinking about ditching my Epson 8350 after 9 years and moving to the 3200. It's not true 4K, but let's be real .... native 4K at sane prices is still years away. The 3200 looks brighter, sharper with pixel shift, and doesn't kill the wallet.

The real snag? My HDMI run. I've got a 10m cable buried in the ceiling going back to a Denon AVR-X1500H. Specs say it handles 4K/60, HDR10, HLG, etc., but in practice long cables are usually the weak link. I'd hate to buy the new projector only to watch it handshake fail because the cable's stuck in 2010. Anyone here made the jump with a similar setup? Did you actually need to replace the cable, or is this one of those "if it works, don't touch it" situations?

oh man, I feel this. I went from a 1080p to a 4K projector, and my old, in wall HDMI cable was the weak link.
It looked fine at 1080p, but as soon as I switched to 4K/60 and HDR, I got flicker and constant signal dropouts.
It's an expensive lesson, but for a 10m run, you probably need a new, modern active or fiber optic cable to get a stable signal

Totally agree. I ran into the same issue upgrading to 4K and had to replace my 25-foot passive HDMI with an active one rated for 18Gbps. Are you running through a receiver or straight from the source to the projector? That can affect signal strength too.
