1080p Vs 4k for gaming

Been running my PS5 and switch through a 1080p projector setup for a while now, and honestly, it's still holding its own, even with all the 4K hype lol, the image looks great in a dark room, and I get way more screen real estate than any TV in the same price range, although not to over hype I'll say there has been noticeable lag but not too much to throw me off and then I've had to tweak settings quite a bit depending on the game and its been chill do far but I feel like I'm missing out sometimes and now with newer consoles seeimng higher res and faster refresh rates, is anyone here still sticking with 1080p projectors or is 4k for gaming totally worth it?, for the price and everything I mean

I’m using a basic 1080p model in my dorm and play FIFA and Rocket League. Do you think upgrading to 4K would help with motion clarity or is it mostly about resolution?
